Our proposals for the SNSC marry science, technology and art within a unique kinetic building structure. Using analogies from science, earth, water, fire and air the architecture responds to the environment and cultural context.
The Southern elevation uses a water wall to absorb and re-use solar energy. The Western elevation contains a vertical hydroponic garden. The North wall incorporates a computerised bank of lights which respond to the river environment. The East entrance is a large atrium which transfers energy gains from the exhibition areas.
The overall complex is roofed by a PTFE Monocoque structure which is translucent and reacts to environmental and cultural conditions.
