AMA Studio is a design-led architectural practice based in Edinburgh. We aspire to deliver uplifting buildings and create public spaces that offer a rich, rewarding, and enjoyable experience for all - making a difference for everyone.

Our passionate and skilled design team demonstrate integrity and quality in all our work, seeking an understanding of the project from inception, striving to deliver great architecture that benefits the wider community. Many of our most rewarding projects arise from a variety of sectors - we welcome challenging and ambitious projects of any scale - providing design expertise from an early concept stage through to project delivery and completion. 

AMA Studio’s creative design approach responds to our client’s aspirations - we listen, understand, and cultivate a project vision aligned to the client’s needs, working together to develop the most appropriate solution. We enjoy this process, taking a fresh approach to creating quality architecture that is integrated with our parallel skills in Urban Design and Landscape Architecture.

We always consider the wider site context, using an innovative and imaginative design methodology that aims to capture new public spaces and create buildings with a sense of belonging that leave a positive impression on the wider community. Our projects will have a long-lasting impact on the surrounding environment, and we have always taken this responsibility seriously. 

We endeavour to design buildings and spaces that are accountable in the long-term: minimising energy use, reducing carbon emissions and making better use of the world’s precious resources. Our buildings incorporate intelligent environmental control and utilise sustainably sourced materials and construction methods where possible as a fundamental part of the design.

AMA Studio uses ArchiCAD and associated visualisation software to develop proposals in 3D right from the start of the design process, providing renderings, fly-throughs and construction documentation in one integrated package. We can share our BIM model information with the Client and other members of the Design Team and have a dedicated web space to act as a Common Data Environment for the exchange of drawings and information. 

The practice has worked on a whole range of projects and our team has considerable experience in dealing with large scale public and private sector buildings.

We became an Employee-Owned Trust in April 2020 as an evolution of the award-winning practice Allan Murray Architects, founded in 1994.
